Over the past 30 years the Solomon Islands Development Trust has worked on a great number of campaigns and programs.
As times have changed and needs have changed these programs have been retired and new ones implemented.
SIDT has long been working within existing village governance structures to increase villagers’ capacity to take charge of their own futures.
A key part of this has been addressing gender issues (the balance between men and women in decision making process) in village governance.
SIDT will continue this work focusing on building leadership skills among men, women, youth and especially vulnerable groups such as people with disability as well as working with our sister NGOs and CSOs.
In the past SIDT has focused on programs such as:
-Changing of Natural Wealth to Cash
-Mere Save (Women’s skills)
-People and Policy
-HIV and AIDS
-Violence Against Women
